Machine heads go on.
We string it up for 24hrs with a set of heavy strings, to make sure our neck join is good and the neck wood settles to wear it wants to sit.
The 12th fret Inlay is also replaced at this time
We now smooth the neck of any final machining marks, I start with a rasp.
Follow up with some 220 grit sandpaper on a rubber backed block.
Smooth clean and tidy.
Some mother of pearl circles to the top.
After 2 hrs drying, we level the freshly fitted fretboard and inlays.
Clean up ready for strings.
Some shellac to seal the neck
We fit some side markers to the new board
Two to three coats 2 hrs apart.
Prepare the headstock for new decal
After 24hrs we refret the neck.
