And off comes the top.
Like so.
Body cleaned and prepped for new top.
I transfer all the old bracing layout to my mdf template.
Laying the mdf template on my fresh book matched top, I can trace the shape.
New bookmatched top, shaped as per my template, this can be achieved with a router or belt sander or bobbin sander and so forth.
I cut a set of rosette channel in that match's the old top.

With a pile of binding strips I lay up the rosette shape.

Once the braces have been identified, we use a small saw and cut along the sides of the braces.
A heat gun and heat will allows you to lift the edge pieces
With a flat bit of 220 grit sandpaper we sand the kerfing smooth
Like so
With a razor blade, I remove the rest of the top away and expose my braces.
Then the rosette is fitted int the new top with some durobond cement.
