This is the mini chisel I use to remove the left over material from between the blade cuts.
We then sand the thickness to fit each slot.
Once a nice tight fit, we align the grain lines so they run straight up and down for maximum strength
Add some titebond glue and push them home.
With a razor blade, we mark each side of the insert.
Then we can just snap the excess away.
When dry, follow up with a chisel and smooth the areas out.
Both sides splined.
Anchor nut refitted.
Full depth of cut
Both sides slotted, in this photo.
I have chiseled away the centre on the left hand side.
One slotted area is also larger than the other, this is solely because the wood adjacent to the anchor nut was torn out from initial damage.
Cuttiin some round shapes in mahogany to match the diameter of my slotting saw.
Some refinishing work.
Alignment of the blade to the neck heel.
Fit the neck back on vee the bolts removed.
Refit strings.
Job Finished.
