Rosettes are a decorative feature of the guitar, sometimes they are used to reinforce the open edge of the grain from splitting.
This guitar has had something dropped on the top which has shattered the sound hole and rosette area, the repair is about re-inforcing the sound hole and using that as a platform to do the repair on.
Time to repair approx 3 hrs over 5 days (glue / paint drying times)
Start with string removal / saddle removal etc
Second location
With a localized clamp we squeeze the area back to some sort of shape
Same for rear
Internally we can see an area exists to provide some inner strength (re-inforcing).
Tape the top up
Cut out the sound hole perimeter
With some magnets, we identify the inner structure and mark it on our tape
Nice Takameine
Rosette area has been smashed
With a wet rag, we soften the damaged areas
