Using my MDF, I trace and cut the veneer.
I am going to use our press deck to hold the veneer in place
After 24hrs we have a freshly fitted veneer
With a razor blade, smooth the binding edges
Flat sand to prepare for painting
Shellac the body to seal
Because a void may exist between my new top and the existing binding, I spray the border black, this will blend in with the first row of black binding.
I do a mdf mockup to size
Select a piece of Birds eye maple veneer big enough to do the job.
Test fit.
Flat smooth sand again
Ready for a new veneer top
On dis-assembly we colour matched
We start to put those colours back on
We glue the veneer on and allow it to dry for 24hrs, attached tute shows a more in depth process of veneering a top.
