Adjusting the amount of exposed cutter below the rub strip changes the depth of the cut.
First nibble cuts - Figure 1
Then as per figure 2, full border route.
Binding all gone, wood is clean and prepped instantly for new binding.
Here I have fitted a bigger bearing, the depth of the cut will be the difference between the two red arrows.
The carrier has a rub strip fitted, this plastic rub strip is what rests on top of the guitar, the rub strip should be made of something that wont mark the guitar top, this one is made from Ptfe (teflon)
To reduce tear out, we route as per figure 1, nibble in and nibble out, then follow up with figure 2 with a full smooth cut.
The router bit comes with a set of bearings, changing the bearing size will change the depth of the side cut.
Ready to start cutting, slowly feed the guitar in, the rub strip will raise the router to the required height.
