Allow it to soak for about an hr.
Wipe the excess stain away.
Using super glue, I coat the surface
Allow it to dry.
I hand carve a string groove into the pin body
Bit of black texta again goes a long way.
I never throw pearl bits away, I will normally turn any leftovers into small dots.
Using araldite I glue the pearl into place
We keep going until we get our upper width
This step would be unnecassary had I used a piece of ebony, but I used oak, so I need to stain it black.
Allow to dry for an hr.
Then using my cross slide at .5 degrees I wind the slide down
And then part it away.
Using a drill we centre pop the head.
Lightly wet sand with 1000 grit sandpaper to smooth the super glue and araldite.
If you still have small holes in the wood, follow this attached link on filling the holes and voids, simply substitute the nitro with super glue.
String her up and away you go.
As mentioned at the start, this is not an economical job to do, the time spent doing it exceeds the value of the pin.
Sometimes you need to make them unfortunatley.
