Jazz style guitars have floating bridges, becuase they float they have a tendency to be able to damage the guitar

This guitar, the action was lowered to a point where it blew the back of the bridge out and damaged the top, the purpose of this walk through is to show an easy way of locating the bridge on an archtop without the need to drill a hole in the top, I mention this as to me it seems like a crazy idea, but I have seen a few recently start coming through with this ""destructive method"", having been incorporated.

Time to repair approx 1 hr over 1 day (glue drying times)
Upon removal you can see the base of the bridge has broken apart
Use attached link for drip filling the void with lacquer.

You do not need to repair the damage as it is hidden under the bridge, that is a choice you can make
Pulling the stem out (unwinding it) from the bridge base, we can repair this bridge
Simple titebond wood glue and a clamp, allow to dry for 24hrs
After 24hrs, we smooth sand with some 220 grit sandpaper.
The old damage is invisble.
With some verniers, we find the depth of the hole.
Measures out to 5.9mm
Nice Archtop.
Loosening the strings we remove the bridge by sliding it out.
It also has some corresponding damage in the top
With some black texta we mark that measurement against the threads
