The underside of this piece of wood has been shaped to fit the filed recess.
Little bit of sandpaper and smooth the area out.
The dissolved shellac mix is then rubbed in to the wood grain, this seals the surface so we can paint onto it.
Before doing any refinish work, we need to make sure the glue bond holds, so we re-install all the removed hardware.
String it up and tune to pitch.
Using a curved file, we smooth the edges out.
Smoothed edges ready to be covered.
Clamped and allowed to dry for 24hrs.
Allow it to sit 24 hrs under tension before continuing with any refinish work

Using titebond again, we glue the wood insert into place.
After 24hrs, remove clamp and shave the excess wood away with a chisel
The exposed wood now needs to be sealed, we mix up some shellac flakes with metho, and allow to dissolve for around 6 hrs.
