Follow up sanding with Micro Mesh, this Micro Mesh is around 8000 grit, I also follow up with 12000.
Job finished
View from the original reference point, the damaged area is a little darker, this is down to the wood having been bruised from the impact, it can be removed but issues arise trying to match the sun ageing (UV Exposure) of the original wood itself.
Comparison photo to our starting point.
Wet sanding time, I have some 1000 grit sandpaper attached to a flat block of wood.
Flat sand until all is smooth and dead flat.
Some hand polishing.

Again, protect the top, using a razor blade we scrape down to the height of the adjacent finish.
