Bocal Repairs

Not all Bocals can be repaired, they are one of the hardest items to remove dents and folds from IMO
Small graduated dent balls are used for the inside of the piping
I start with a draw plate to try and ease the shape back to round a little bit
With a steel cable we feed it through the pipe and attach one of the balls
After reworking inside and outside we have a rough shaped bocal again thar has small planing marks from the hammer and balls
Glancing blows we lower the high spots, and raise the low spots with the dent balls internally

Carefully we rebuff the pipe
Buffer to smooth the surface out again
Resolder the octave pip back in
Glued into place
Some fresh cork for the tenon
We wrap the cork with a rag to apply pressure to the glued joint for 24hrs
Job finished, up close of the previously collapsed pipe
As one goes out, another comes in
